NMMS -NATIONAL MEANS-CUM-MERIT SCHOLARSHIP SCHEME
Scheme Detail :
- Under this scheme, All over India 100,000 scholarships are awarded to the gifted students whose parental income is not more than Rs. 1,50,000/- per annul.
- In Tamil Nadu 6695 different categories of students are Selected every year For this scholarship.
- These scholarships will be Start in Class IX and Renewed for classes X, XI and XII
- The scholarships will be for a maximum period of four years
- The amount of scholarship will be Rs. 1000 per month @ Rs. 12000/- per annul
- A examination shall be conducted by the State Governments
Qualification of NMMS Exam
- Parental income of student is not more than Rs. 1,50,000/- per annul.
- The students shall have minimum of 55 % marks or equivalent grade in Class VII examination (relax able by 5% for SC/ST students).
- The students should be studying as regular student in a Government, Government-aided School
Examination
The State Level Examination may consist of the following two tests:
(i) Mental Ability Test (MAT) Exam Time : 9AM to 11 AM
(ii) Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) Exam Time : 11.30 AM to 1 PM
(i) Mental Ability Test (MAT) Exam Time : 9AM to 11 AM
Mental Ability Test may consist of 90 multiple-choice questions testing verbal and non-verbal meta-cognitive abilities like reasoning and critical thinking. The questions in the test may be on analogy, classification, numerical series, pattern perception, hidden figure etc
(ii) Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) Exam Time : 11.30 AM to 1 PM
Scholastic Aptitude Test may consist of 90 multiple-choice questions covering subjects namely, science, social studies and mathematics as taught in classes VII and VIII.
HOW TO Select Student
- The students must pass both the tests i.e. MAT and SAT with at least 40 % marks For the SC/ST students, this cut off will be 32% marks.
- At the time of selection , student must have scored at least 55% mark or in Class VIII examination. There will be 5 % relaxation for SC/ST students.
How To Apply NMMS Exam In Tamil Nadu Student
who are willing to apply for the exam Can only apply through the school.
The head Master will download the Empty applications from the website –www.dge.tn.gov.in and give them to the students.
The student fill the All Detail in the application. And Past passport Size Photo and Required Document like income Certificate , if need (Bank Pass Book , Aadhaar)
NMMS Exam Fees –RS 50/-
Exam will be conducted in Block or Education District level exam Center .

- Result will be Published State level and scholarship eligible Students list (6695 Student all over Tamil Nadu ) Published By Department of School Education.
- Scholarship eligible Students Apply the Scholarship in Nation Scholarship Portal with Help of School Teacher/ Staff .
- After Compete the Registration Every Year Renewed the Scholarship in School level login
